CreaSus Develops Comprehensive Funding Toolkit for Cultural and Creative Industries

The CREASUS project is reaching a significant milestone soon, in its mission to support Cultural and Creative Industries in their transition toward sustainability. Following extensive research and data collection across four European countries, the consortium is finalizing a comprehensive Sustainability Funding Toolkit. It will serve as a useful resource for CCIs seeking financial support for their sustainability initiatives.

Over the past months, project partners in Spain, Ireland, Italy, and Greece have conducted a thorough research to identify and document funding opportunities specifically relevant to cultural and creative organizations pursuing environmental, social, and governance sustainability goals. This collaborative effort has resulted in a consolidated database containing more than 150 carefully curated funding schemes. Each of them is thoroughly analyzed and documented to provide CCIs with the detailed information they need to make informed funding decisions.

How was the funding toolkit created?

The development process involved creating standardized data collection templates and coordinating with partners across all four countries to ensureĀ consistency and comprehensiveness. Each funding scheme has been evaluated for its relevance toĀ different types of creative organizations, from individual artists and freelancers to established cultural institutions and innovative digital media companies. The research team paid particular attention to capturing the nuances ofĀ eligibility requirements,Ā application processes, and the specificĀ sustainability dimensionsĀ that each scheme addresses.

The added value of the funding toolkit

The toolkit addresses a critical gap in the current funding ecosystem for CCIs. While numerous sustainability funding schemes exist across Europe, they are often scattered across different platforms, described in varying formats, and difficult for creative organizations to discover and understand. By consolidating this information into a single, accessible resource, the CREASUS Funding Toolkit is a valuable tool to help you understand the different funding schemes and easily navigate through the various available opportunities, securing funds and grants for your sustainability transformation.

Rather than providing only a list of specific funding schemes that inevitably become outdated, the project recognizes that the most valuable contribution would be to help CCIs develop their own funding literacy and strategic capabilities.

The toolkit will guide organizations through the process of understanding their own funding readiness, identifying their sustainability priorities, and developing the strategic thinking necessary to position themselves as attractive candidates for various types of funding. It will also provide practical frameworks and tools that help CCIs assess and strengthen these core competencies, ultimately making them more competitive candidates regardless of which specific funding opportunities they pursue.

The CreaSus Digital Platform

As the project moves toward the integration phase, the Funding Toolkit will become a core component of the CreaSus Digital Platform, where it will be accessible to project participants during the pilot testing phase.

The final version of the CREASUS Funding Toolkit is expected to be available in the last quarter of 2025, eventually being a valuable resource that will continue to support the cultural and creative industries long beyond the project’s completion.
